the republican party following president obama's reelection. thanks for joining us tonight. i'm shawn yancy. >> and i'm brian bolter. >>> we begin with the nor'easter that just brought rain to parts of our area, but up north it's getting nasty. >> that's right. we're talking about snow, strong winds in areas still recovering from hurricane sandy. let's get to sue palka in the weather center. >> let me show you what we are missing out on. the pictures behind us is d.c. united trying to get the field cleared in harrison, new jersey, where they were going to take on the new york red bulls and had to cancel that game. a lot of fans were up there. they had 2 inches of snow in that area, but it's very heavy and wet and it's still blowing and that is what we don't have to deal with tonight. let me take you to radar. we'll touch on the nor'easter in a moment. what we've had locally is sort of one of the westward bands of our nor'easter and what we have out there is mostly light, occasionally moderate rain. hey, from time to time maybe a little wet snowflake can mix in, but we're in our

that surround her house in chevy chase-d.c. and she uses the canes, the family member said, to constantly walk around the neighborhood and to nearby stores. the attack sent the woman to the hospital. police are asking neighbors to call if they remember seeing anyone unfamiliar to the area in the afternoon. because the assailant was wearing a mask and she was vision impaired, there is no description of the guy not even the clothing. he took from the house an apple computer. according to the neighborhood listserv, a suspicious man was located, or spotted in another backyard this week. they want anyone else who may have made sightings to call them. they made physical or clothing descriptions. the 81-year-old remains in a local hospital and -- i am told, the d.c. metropolitan police made an arrest in this case, and i will tell you how i believe this was broken. in the other backyard, there were guests in the house and they didn't like the way he was acting. he moved a flower pot and they took a photograph of him and supplied that photo to police. i am guessing that is what led to t

the rear of her house in mckinley street northwest. the man used his fist to punch the woman in her face and head. he then made off with an apple computer. today's victim was found outside of her front door by the local mailman. she's been hospitalized. the police made a public plea for any other witnesses in the neighborhood to come forward. that may have happened already. the neighborhood listserv said the suspicious man was spotted in another nearby backyard earlier this week. and the spotters quickly snapped photos and shared those photos with police. very late this afternoon, d.c. police announced the arrest of 18-year-old tyran mcel wrath of southeast d.c. and he's in custody. he's charged with first-degree burglary and the victim remains in the hospital but she's expected to be released soon and is expected to recover from the beating. >>> a nor'easter suddenly discovering -- and he's more from sharon from monmoth county, new jersey. >> reporter: i'm in an evacuated area along the new jersey shore and it's just over my shoulder here and ts is another condemned home. we have b
